Grammy's Disappointments

It is that time of the year where the moment music artists and fans have waited for...the Grammys. Many wait all year to see the nominations for these prestigious awards. This year there were many surprises that came along with the announcement of some of the nominations, some of which have made the internet go crazy. The biggest upset fans made known were that The Weeknd did not receive a single nomination for his new album "After Hours". This album includes some of the biggest songs of 2020, such as Blinding Lights which spent 28 weeks on Billboard's top 100 charts. The Weeknd has won several other music awards this year at the American Music Awards, VMA's, and Billboard Awards. Not only did this come as a shock to fans, but it was also a shock to The Weeknd himself. He took to Twitter and said, “The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans, and the industry transparency.”.

This wasn't the only disappointment to come from the Grammy 2020 nominations. Some other letdowns without nominations were Harry Styles, Luke Combs, Fiona Apple, Travis Scott, and the world-famous boyband BTS. Each of these artists had some of the top hits, as well as albums in 2020, and were snubbed. Outrage fans took to social media to let the recording academy know their disappointment. Many even said they will not tune into the Grammys this year due to these upsets. The 63rd annual Grammy Awards will take place Sunday, January 31st, 2021.
