Live events were put on hold at the end of February with the intent of making a return before summer. The pandemic has stopped all large gatherings since then for the safety of citizens worldwide. The performing arts industry is suffering greatly because of this. Many venues and theaters are beginning to close down because they still must pay rent but have no income without the shows taking place. All employees have been laid off, with no incite of when they may be able to return.
Many venues and theaters are trying to figure out how to get by for the meantime as the business grant funds have run out. Many venues are selling merchandise as a source of income, as well as accepting donations. Artists have too raised money to donate for some of their favorite venues and theaters to help pay employees, as well as rent on location. Venue owners have expressed their appreciation of fans and artist helping them during this difficult time. Now they must sit and wait to find out when it may be safe to return.
