As mentioned in my previous blog post performing arts venues are in great danger during the pandemic, because of their lack of income. Many venues have had to make the difficult decision to close their doors. Not only has it affected the venue, but it has also affected the artist.

"Pollstar estimated nearly $9 billion in industry losses due to coronavirus cancellations for 2020; on Monday, the advocacy group Americans for the Arts released its most recent impact findings, saying that 62 percent of American artists (across all disciplines) are now unemployed."
Recording artists are making music during this time but a large majority of their income comes from touring and live performances. These artists are now thinking of ways of income such as new merchandise, and virtual concerts. Many artists have joined the trend of virtual concerts. How they work is you pay a small fee to access the live stream of the show that they are playing at a location without a physical audience. Many artists are trying to keep the arts alive by donating portions of the proceed of the virtual show to local concert venues.
